In the VFX world, it's important to  leverage different applications for different tasks. Getting precise  camera data back and forth is critical however a big problem with all  current solutions was that all formats that support camera data (like  FBX) give wildly different results on import. This is less than ideal so  I created a spec + PyQt based plugins for Softimage and Houdini and  open sourced it to try and get the community on board. This was also  built for Maya by a different Technical Director but that's been lost  somehow. This is old stuff here... don't hold me accountable for this  code :)
